Front page news about Tesco closure mentions Morrisons opening 'Morrisons is preparing to open a new store near Turnham Green, adding another major supermarket presence to the area', not seen any mention on local news,  any idea where?

There were raised eyebrows when M&S said they were going to open up the rear entrance but it seems to be working well for them. I'm regularly sent out on my bike to get a missing ingredient for dinner. I used to go to Tesco but, given the till placement and the rear door, it is quicker to go to M&S now (and, as you say, often cheaper). All that is missing is a good spot to lock up a bike.

Who is claiming it is a major development? It will be significant for me as I can now pick up things like milk and bread on the way back from work. Although Best One is close by it was for some reason much harder to go away in the opposite direction to home to pick up stuff.I agree with the point that Tesco's might have been hit by price competition with the new M&S. Some key items were cheaper and the reopening of the rear exit made it easier to pop in particularly when walking the dog on Chiswick Back Common.

I, for one, will be very sad to see Tesco leave Chiswick High Road, as, while small and cramped, it is good to have a choice of supermarkets in which to shop. It is also cheaper and less exclusive than Cullens, which occupied the site before. It is also Chiswick's first drive-in supermarket... one evening some months ago, I witnessed a man on an eScooter bombing along on the pavement, before turning at full speed, driving straight through the doors of Tesco and parking up by the ice cream fridge, before getting off and doing his shopping. At least he didn't whizz round the aisles on his scooter. In many respects, it's a shame that Tesco couldn't move across the road and occupy several floors of the former police station (they'd even have a small car park at the rear!). Tesco's departure is very sad state of affairs for our local community.

The front page article. "Hammersmith and Chiswick MP Andy Slaughter said, "I know Chiswick shoppers will be concerned by the closure and what will replace it. I am making enquiries with Tesco about this, and I will ensure to keep Chiswick residents updated." Oh, I'm heartbroken. It's only open an hour more, and it's crap. You can hardly move around inside. It all sounds like a disaster for locals. Is it?
