It's a gas!

Well, that didn't take longI see the lovely new black tarmac by the shops in Grove Park "piazza" is having holes dug in it by Cadent. No doubt to be followed by a cheap and nasty repair. Soon it will all be looking like a crap patchwork matching the other the other nearby streets.

You should come to Brentford if you want to see virtually constant roadworks.Using tarmac is a bad idea as water gets beneath it and freezes it will quite likely pop some of the tarmac out,creating a hole in it that will them allow more water in ad infinitum.

Reminds me of an old Spitting Image sketch that had Maggie opening a new section of the M25. She declares the road open, cuts the ribbon, and a hoard of workmen rush forward, putting down cones!!

There seems to be no onus on the utility companies to restore dug-up surfaces to their original finish. Quite often what appears to be a temporary fix turns out in fact to be as good as it's going to get. Who signs off these jobs - is it the Council, or do the utilities mark their own homework? High time for some financial disincentives.

Piazzas and black tarmac are like oil and water.I see an increasing amount of tarmac posing as pavement in both Hammersmith at the new Civic Center as well as on residential streets in Chiswick.Sorry state of affairs.
