Chiswick Station footbridge

STILL not open … apparently lighting and cabling to be completed and not a workman in sight !

Is it delivered to the quality standard specified.".... and have you heard a project manager's usual response to this? You can only have 2 out of the 3.You can have it on time and within budget, but we will need to cut back the specification.You can have it on time and within specification, but we will need more money.You can have it within specification and budget, but we will need more time.

yes, it is working - the lights are attached with cable ties, which looks a bit makeshift

Is it delivered to the quality standard specified.So I guess it is only one rather reluctant cheer for Network Rail the state owned company tasked with looking after rail infra structure. A proper apology by a senior member of staff would have been nice!The Chancellor might like to reflect on the how the slow delivery of public infra structure projects damages the profitability of ancillary businesses e.g. the coffee shop.

On reflection it does seem odd that, this close to the supposed reopening date, we have not got a confirmed day for when it will actually happen. We may need to prepare ourselves for further delay.

The sign that says September is out of date and refers to the original timetable last year. An attempt has been made to cross it out and the posters in the station still say 'mid-February' though the report on this site suggest Network Rail are not going to reopen the bridge until the end of the month.

There's been too much rain recently for a lot of work especially where there's any likelihood of water getting into anything you don't want it to.

Well, the notice says it'll be complete by September, so what's the hurry? Apparently even once it's all done, they'll need to carry out extensive safety tests. Maybe people using the bridge should be required to undertake training on safety and diversity issues? ;-)
