As long as Germany, China, Turkey, etc buy their energy from Russia, in turn feeding Putin's war machine, the killings will continue. This evil man shows no mercy towards Ukrainian loss of life, nor the lives of his own young military men and women..Trump asking Putin to partake in Peace talks has meant Labour backing away, but this decision shows no awareness to the Irish Troubles way back in 1998 when Tony Blair's influence in bringing Sin Fein into negotiations forced the successful (albeit tenuous) Good Friday Agreement.Needs must.Delicate diplomacy deployed by a wise old Tony Blair must be worth a try.

If the UN has failed it is because of special relationships and reluctance of to vote against 'friends'.  The number of abstentions is unconscionable.

"Pug faced"?No need for the Ad Hominem response to a pretty obvious situation. I’m no fan of Starmer, but it seems to me the UK is refusing to join a Board of Peace while the US rebrands its Department of Defense as the Department of War and offers a seat to Putin, who is actively waging a war.

Admittedly no WW3 but the world has been rampant with wars and genocide so the Jaw Jaw clearly hasn’t worked. Millions have died and the UN proved to be absolutely toothless. Now our incompetent, pug faced, Foreign Secretary won’t join the Board of Peace just because Russia is part of it. Does that mean that the UK won’t be a member of the UN either!!!  It’s just mind boggling how this UK government gets absolutely everything wrong. And as the Board of Peace is primarily to sort out peace in Gaza, it questions the UK’s commitment to peace in Gaza.

Well the UN has been a total failure over the last five decades so hopefully the Board of Peace will be a good replacement to the obsolete and failed UN.
