Discarded Christmas Trees

In the last two days I've noticed a big pile of discarded Christmas trees at the southern entrance to Acton Park (still wrapped in netting so presumably unsold) and a smaller pile outside Turnham Green station (no netting so presumably people who for some reason have taken their trees down early). This seems such a waste but you now know where to go if you want a free tree.

They may have been dumped by the men who were selling them outside Sainsburys. Unsold.

One year I kept my tree up until March. It was far too pretty to take down. 😂🎄

Hounslow Council will be picking up Christmas Trees from Monday 5th January until the 16th January. I seem to remember that it is traditional in Poland to keep a Christmas tree up for longer than we do traditionally here until a religious calendar date in February.  However I think the Council tree collections are often only listed as being until the end of January.  Is that right?

It's just lovely seeing a family choose their Christmas tree and then all walk it home so they can spend an evening decorating it with the baubles, tinsel and other home made decorations collected over the years.

Oh dear, it's such bad luck to take down a Christmas tree until January 6th!

A good shout!  Quite a few people seem to just keep a Christmas tree for the days before they go away or for a Christmas function.I understand that there has been a big increase in the number of living  Christmas in trees in pots being hired for functions and then returned to the nursery to be looked after until hired out again the following year.The growing piles of discarded trees awaiting chipping in the pre-arranged places in parks is rather dispiriting when you consider the length of time they have been growing but better than finding them blowing around on the street and pavement to trip over!
