Amazon

Waited all day for a small parcel from Amazon from my daughter - after nothing I walked outside and saw it luckily in the rain outside. No bell for me… nothing. Is this how Amazon do their business? Puts me off from using them in the future-

Actually the ceo of EVRI earns surprisingly little (usd 700) which is lower than the Post Office ceo and massively lower than other corporation CEO’s like DHL, Thames Water, British Telecom etc etc. We won’t mention British Gas owner Centrica whose CEO has earned up to £8.2 million pa.

The program on EVRI  this week showed how the drivers are allegedly exploited. They’re paid per package delivered and they’re paid different amounts per size of package so often they get way below minimum wage and then they still have to pay their petrol and vehicle expenses. They’re encouraged to never leave the premises without leaving the parcel there. It’s an extremely high pressured job for little money. After watching the program I’m surprised anyone would do it!  I believe the Post Office drivers receive a salary so not sure why they are so tardy / slack and dump recorded parcels without signature or don’t leave parcels in designated safe spaces. There’s no excuse really.

Yep, just checked. You can set the click & collect counter at Waitrose Chiswick as your pick up point!

Did I dream it or did I read somewhere that you can select Waitrose as your Amazon delivery address then pick it up from the click & collect counter?

The tracking information can also be wrong - I had a parcel said to have been delivered to an outbuilding (there is none), which had been put through my absent neighbours' door even though I was in at the time.

I don't think there's much to choose between those companies, the EVRI bloke just dumps stuff, no knock or ring and is off like Lewis Hamilton  - good old Royal Mail seems to be the most reliable. I have to say it does strike me as really unfair that they are held to much higher standards and have deadlines to meet, whereas where the other 'couriers' are concerned it's almost the wild west.

Yes it seems Amazon’s ethos is to dump and run without any attempt at getting proof of delivery but apparently they don’t argue when you complain of a non receipt. They simply deliver another item. Not sure how true this is!!

You can track delivery, and they text to say when it has been delivered so you know it's outside.

You’ll get similar service from all couriers these days. They rarely knock on doors. Parcels are regularly chucked over fences / walls or left on doorsteps in the rain. There was an interesting program on EVRI this week with footage of how parcels are treated with total disrespect and carelessness. Our experience with the Post Office recorded  deliveries this year rates them the worst!!  A diabolical ‘service’.

If you have the App you will be notified via it when the parcel is a few stops away and when it has been delivered.That said, I get most of mine delivered to the corner shop or a locker.
