Chiswick high street

Why and who are allowing spa’s and vets to occupy our high street, with the cost of living crisis we are in need of affordable food shops, a permanent post office and housing surgeries things that are so needed to name but a few, it is now getting ridiculous, lots of us do not drive nor can we afford cars to get to more affordable shops it seems chiswick high street  has become a place for only those with money, M&S and waitrose are unaffordable for most and Sainsbury are now not far behind, i have lived in chiswick all my life and our high street has become a joke and only a paradise for the rich, shame on you once again Hounslow Council

They have already contributed to the 'free' healthcare as you call it, would say the pets are probably doing much better than we are.

Some might say that if people are prepared to pay £250 towards their pet’s health, they could first to pay more to help fund their own ‘free’ health care.

Chris, what the council can do is control what goes where. This applies to shopfronts as well as market stalls adjacent to shop fronts. Curating can occur. But doesn't. Another item where Hounslow fails significantly. I don't understand how other properties remain vacant for years and years. Several in Hammersmith come to mind. The government fails the local communities by allowing this to happen.

About 20 years ago I was listening to a debate about the charges made by vets for various treatments.One vet attempted to justify the £104 charge he made for an injection given to dogs.Cost of the vaccine to him ? 96p.

Some friends of mine spent £250 for a vet to treat an eye infection on a Guinea pig last month. This was in north London.I’d hate to think how much it would cost for the dogs I help look after to be treated here in London - luckily for me they live in the West Country and we take them to a vet in Somerset

..and there are two more Lidls in Acton!Having said that, the proliferation of extensive 'pet-pampering' establishments along CHR seems odd, second only to the number of kitchen fitting showrooms and sofa stores!  There must be money in pet-care!

You are blessded locally with all types of shops and four or five supermarket outlets.You don't know how lucky you are in this regard,but that also applies to other advantages you have over other parts of England.Lidl is not that much cheaper than Sainsbury's btw and there is now one in Brentford,hardly a million iles away.Get over it and shop wisely.

The council don't decide who can lease a private property. By cheap food I assume a Lidl type business? If so which vacant site do you propose they occupy that will be large enough?There is a brand new health centre one road behind the High Road and the Post Office was open and busy when I last looked  (yesterday).
