94 bus

It will be a pity not to have the 94 bus serving all the way to Piccadilly. I take this bus to go to work . We won't have a direct bus to the west end anymore.  We have the 9 from piccadilly to Hammersmith but you have to change bus and often pay twice if too much traffic or waiting for the second bus (especially later in the evening ). I'm not a fan of the pedestrian of Oxford Street anyway, maybe they should focus on the money laundering shops instead

yes, the 27 too. On top of that the 10 to Hammersmith/King's Cross was lost too. The 211 rerouted to Battersea , no longer serving Waterloo/Westminster/Victoria..

Given there’s no step free access at our local tube stations, this is going to make a big difference to anyone with mobility issues or buggies trying to access the stretch of Oxford Street to Oxford Circus.

I totally agree! Oxford Street should be made buses only, rather than pedestrianised, or at very least, an alternative route should be found. At this rate, we'll be paying a bus fare AND tube fare to get into the West End proper, which is very unfare!

That was my thought. Even if it just terminated at the Hilton, it would give you more options just for a small stretch of Park Lane

I agree; the loss of the full 27 route was bad enough. The 94 provides a link to Charing Cross and Waterloo which I've often used when travelling too early for the tube.As for pedestrianisation, I feel extremely unsafe in pedestrianised areas especially once shops close. They become bleak and windswept and a paradise for muggers.

Even with a few buses still negotiating along Wigmore Street, it will no longer be anything like so convenient to hop on and off an iconic red London bus along Oxford Street as is used to be.I'm not convinced by the virtues of full pedestrianisation, particularly during the evenings and at night, when passing traffic tends to keep things safe. And I can't see them stopping cycles and delivery e-bikes from continuing to dodge and weave their way along Oxford Street unless there's a specialist dragnet team at either end! And great though the Elizabeth Line is, many of its central London stations entrances are nowhere near where you'd expect them to be, such as 'Bond Street' and 'Tottenham Court Road', and if you get out at the 'wrong end' you're faced with a huge walk!

I remember when the 94 bus was the 88 and it went all the way to the Tate Gallery (now Tate Britain).  This was a brilliant service which was subsequently renamed 94 terminating at Piccadilly.  Also a fantastic route but the proposal to terminate at Marble Arch will mean travellers will make alternative decisions about where they shop to the detriment of all the shops along Oxford Street and Regent Street.There are underground stops along the route but for multiple locations the many stairs/escalators and long corridor walks are time consuming and laborious.  I have recently had to go to Bond Street and the layout and signage is awful.  If you do it regularly you get to know the exits but as an infrequent visitor it is not easy.

The Public Spaces Protection Order (Alcohol) covering the whole of the London Borough of Hounslow was renewed in April this year. The effect of the Order is to impose the following conditions at all times on the consumption of Alcohol which may cause anti-social behaviour within the Restricted Area:a. The prohibition ofAlcohol consumption, by any person who, consumes Alcohol or anything which an Authorised Person reasonably believes to be Alcohol, having been required to stop the consumption, by an Authorised Person; and / orb. The requirement to surrender Alcohol, by any person who refuses to hand over any container (open or closed) which is believed to contain Alcohol, when required to do so by anAuthorised Person.Any person found to be in breach of this Order shall be:a. guilty of an offence; andb. be liable to a Fixed Penalty Notice (which for information as at the date of this Order is limitedto a maximum of £100 but may be varied from time to time) or, on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding Level 2 on the standard scale (which for information as at the date of this Order is limited to a maximum of £500 but which may also be varied from time to time).Public Spaces" means any place to which the public or any section of the public has access, on payment or otherwise, as of right or by virtue of express or implied permission; and "Restricted Area" means all Public Spaces in the open air (including any park, open space,street or highway) in the London Borough of Hounslow.

I probably wouldn't bother to go to Oxford Street again if I have to get off the bus and walk along from Marble Arch.  The idea of walking to John Lewis (or even Selfridges) and then battling back to the bus stop carrying shopping through great crowds of pedestrians to catch the bus home is not appealing. At the moment I can go directly to both on the 94, or along to Oxford Circus to walk quickly to Liberty or Hamleys. The pavements on Oxford street are already very, very crowded.The alternative route via Piccadilly Circus, Knightsbridge, Kensington and Hammersmith is always very busy and hence slow.  I do wonder why they are doing this, it could be the end of West End shopping.

The account is a bit vague on the point, but I assume some buses will continue along Wigmore Street or Brook Street to fill the gap.Otherwise I guess it'll be the 94 bus and change onto Central Line from Shepherds Bush onwards, or District Line and Piccadilly Line depending on destination. Maybe not as much fun as sitting on the front seat upstairs for over an hour?!

I know the two streets aren't comparable but Hounslow High St. is a horrible and intimidating place to visit at night and they still have buses going through it.Anyone walking on Oxford St. to get a late tube had better be aware.

No, Isabel is saying the alternative from Piccadilly is the No. 9, but it terminates at Hammersmith. The 94 is the same route but will terminate at Marble Arch. Front page

Hounslow, Croydon,it attracts the wrong people hanging around, sitting around drinking and all the other. Paving Oxford Street is not a good idea, it's not like it was back in the 70s 80s. It's a dive, taking away a handful of shops in a long road
