Operation Chis-Choke update

With traffic speeds increasing along CHR from glacial to halting, we've had to resort to our favourite measure, namely disabling the lights at the junction with TGT, as ever to excellent effect! Hopefully will be in operation for some weeks as no "workers" in evidence at the site!

>And we've done some less important blockages of the cycle lane coming the other way too.There are a LOT of people going along that cycleway, I don't know what the counts are but I think it must be near bus loads of people per half an hour at rush hour.Of course, not a real problem for people on bikes really as they can just go round it, but this will discourage some, especially kids or those with young kids on bikes.

I see the CHR bus gate now appears to be open for buses again, with the traffic cones pushed out of the way.

I asked Hounslow's traffic/transport team last week why the bus gate was closed - and for no obvious reason, other than as part of the council's policy to make driving to, in and from Chiswick so difficult that no-one does it any more. Every road closure or junction change, however temporary, affects our retail, hospitality and service businesses, for the worse not better. As soon as I have a reply, I will post it here.

Indeed so Peter - I didn't want to show off, but it can take up to 50 minutes now for a bus to get from the roundabout along to Hammersmith, maybe even an hour! And we've done some less important blockages of the cycle lane coming the other way too.

Also the bus part of the bus gate on CHR by Acton Lane is (temporarily?) closed but the traffic lights on the ‘gate’ are still (unnecessarily?) holding back  traffic.
