Burlington Lane closure

As a local resident we have had no notification of the works from Cadent and TFL. The first I knew of it was a sign on the bus stop on Friday evening.Still not aware of full details.

Interesting that heavy traffic appears to be a factor in the damage in the first place from reading that.

At least this problem may finally be getting fixed! We have been experiencing, and occasionally reporting, gas smells on this part of Burlington Lane ever since we moved in 40 years ago.

Closure to the Roundabout will last at a minimum till Tuesday/Wednesday.Gas repairs at least a further week. Pipe gaskets need replacing

A reminder not to turn left into Hartington Road to escape the traffic unless you have a permit. Those restrictions have NOT been lifted for the duration and I'm sure the council are making a killing on fines.

And what is going happening on Acton Lane, just under the bridge? Another lot of roadworks with a four-way temporary light set up. Traffic backed up all along South Parade and down to the High Road, and that was just this afternoon, before rush hour. It really is disgusting the amount of roadworks and closures that are going on at the moment.

I caught the 190 from Hammersmith this morning- it stopped at the second stop on the 316 after the Hogarth roundabout and turned right onto Staveley Road. Just to warn you the traffic the other way to Hogarth roundabout was horrendous- just a warning. How does this carry on.

>allowing all the traffic that normally goes along Burlington Lane towards the Hogarth Roundabout to go up Hartington Road would quickly turn Grove Park into one gridlocked mess.For sure, at least the A roads have stuff on them like pedestrian crossings and cycle tracks/lanes and no parking or recessed parking etc.., and yes, have the main road drivers use the back streets and it would probably be worse for them (and everybody else) than just using a different A road, or for those that can, using another method of transport.

Hartington Road has a couple of roundabouts on it as well as some priority over vehicles in the opposite direction pinch points - allowing all the traffic that normally goes along Burlington Lane towards the Hogarth Roundabout to go up Hartington Road would quickly turn Grove Park into one gridlocked mess.

Mortlake Road towards Kew Bridge is a narrower residential road than Hartington and Sutton Court and only a quirk of history labelled it the A205 South Circular. Part of Burlington Lane is similarly narrow and residential and also suffers from being called the A316. There’s nothing intrinsically better about these routes than the many erstwhile alternatives.

Should unclassified back streets ever be/have been allowed to handle A road style traffic? They're not classified so have none of the stuff you expect on A roads...It's better A road traffic goes along other A roads to get around the closure surely?

No, restrictions are not lifted and surprisingly very little traffic on the A316 this morning

It'll be fun and games as the signage approaching the Hogarth Roundabout is poor to non existent at the moment
