Quintin Hogg Sports Ground - Hartington Road

Hi,I wonder if someone can help me. My son’s Saturday morning football training has been moved from King’s House Sports Ground to the Quintin Hogg Sports Ground in Hartington Road.I know there is some sort of traffic restriction in place but have no idea how it works for visitors to this sports ground.Can someone please tell me how I should travel by car to this ground from CHR without copping a fine?Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris, I think you're missing the point I was trying to make.LBHF are quite happy to allow all its residents who have CPZ permits to pass through the wider area LTNs that have been introduced in LBHF - non LBHF residents aren't allowed to do so.The same isn't true with Hounslow council - they aren't amenable to this idea. So I think it is very much to do with the council!In a similar vein, I think that in RBKC if you are a resident with a parking permit, you can park anywhere in RBKC. Pretty sure that used to be the case, and it may still be that way. Again, very council dependant.

Hounslow or Hammersmith, makes no difference to the ANPR. Just programme it to differentiate between postcodes, nothing to do with the council involved.

Mind you it's not quite that straightforward as while my Hammersmith registered car is allowed to drive through some LTNs in LBHF in different CPZs to the one I have a permit for, I would still get a PCN if I strayed into the School Zone at the top of my road during its times of operation in the morning and afternoon.

Gonna reiterate this once again: Why can we not have ANPR recognition for cars registered to a W4 address allowing them free passage anywhere within Chiswick? No more 20min journeys instead of 5mins, no more sitting in traffic jams going miles out of your way for a local journey. No more poulluting idling in traffic when you needn't be and will keep the rat runners out.Is that suggestion just too common sensical?I like the word sensical, not sure if it's a real word but there you go,

For the record the Hartington Rd restrictions are Monday to Saturday 8am to 7pm. There are no restricions on Sundays.

I can confirm as a regular user of A316 and Hartington Rd. If you access from the A316 and return the same way you will be OK. The restriction is further up the road just before the junction of Cavendish Rd.You can also enter Hartington Rd from Grove Park but you cannot go back that way without a fine.

Sorry to hear about the fines, Chris.When I heard about the not-surprising story re LTNs failing, it made me wonder if all these fines should be reimbursed. A class-action type approach. It's all ill-gotten gains based on lies.

That map shows where (and what) the restriction signs are, but I don't think you can necessarily tell what direction the signs are facing just from looking at the map.

Our youngest son rows at Quintin Boat Club and when picking him up or visiting to spectate we always approach from the Sutton Court Road end, across Grove Park Bridge and down Bolton Road, parking in Cavendish Road. When leaving we turn around and go back the same way. I have been caught many a time and have paid too many fines on Hartington Road to risk anything else.

There is no restriction from Chiswick High Road down Sutton court Road and over Grove Park bridge to the sports ground. BUT you cannot go back that way, you have to use the A316 to leave the sports ground.So it may be better to enter and leave via the A316 to and from  Hartington Road There has been quite a few people caught when turning right out of the sports ground into Hartington Road towards Chiswick High Road

Would seem so, but I couldn’t possibly comment!Maybe best check with someone at the sports club. Others might know more about the latest set up with the various traffic cameras in this area.

Thanks. Just to clarify, does this mean then that I can enter from the A316, attend the sports ground and, if I exit the same way, then I am “safe”?

As I understood it, the No Access restriction was intentionally, and some would say awkwardly placed some distance along Hartington Road to allow access to the sports grounds from the A316, while I don’t think there’s ever been a restriction coming from the other ‘Sutton Court Road’ direction.
