Donating to the Food Bank

Oh, no! She's not banging on about this again? Yes, she is.With no sign of food prices easing, despite a general fall in inflation, the Ealing Food Bank is struggling. We have had to cut back on how much we give each family and the warehouse has stopped buying some things altogether. We frequently run out of things during the session now.So if you could find your way to adding a tin or 2 to the collection box when doing your supermarket shopping, it will be going to a good home. Tins of meat would be especially welcome as the warehouse has stopped buying those in favour of fish and vegetarian protein.Thank you for reading.

SAme with Hounslow Community Foodbox (which has a lot of support from Chiswick). Only after referral and number of referrals for a person/family is restricted to a few  times.www.hounslowcommunityfoodbox.org.uk

I cannot remember which area they were reporting from, if that Trusts food banks give to referrals I'm happy with that.

I've never come across anyone like that, Janice, in 5 years of volunteering.To use the Trussell Trust's food banks, you need a referral from someone familiar with your circumstances.

There will always be anecdotes about people abusing the service,but I would guess that the vast majority of people who use food banks are worse off than you and me.

Think the problem may be, they were showing people who use the food banks, one family said they were both working middle class, however theyhad to reduce daughter horse riding lessons because they had just bought their son a car so we're having to use food banks,  are these really the sort of people using food banks, only I always used to put something in but these people seem to be better off than me.  Can you tell me its not really like that.
