Scams

I have had so many Scam texts over the last couple of months, they have tried just about everything, the last one was via What's App trying to book a home visit, today Igot a text telling me to F O.  HA, I just hope they have, with the home visit one it has made me realise just how dangerous this could become for women and wish more could be done about it, you really have to be on guard constantly.

It's best not to reply at all but to contact your bank and check it out, I findit worrying when they are trying to book a home visit and some could easily be caught out on that one.

'HSBC UK: Your credit card application has successfully been approved. Your card and pin will be with you in 3-5 days. If you did NOT make this request, reply NO'This is an interesting scam text I received recently. When I replied 'no', they texted back saying that one of their advisors would contact me soon. It was obviously a prelude to a quite clever phishing attempt. No attempt to phish for banking details, other than the name of my bank. The next step was the give-away: the HSBC 'advisor' ,said he'd phoned my bank's fraud department, and they were going to call me. At that point I said I'd call instead, and rang off. The text came from 07784 932855.

Most of my contacts are by text, even with Companies and Hospital etc. I find it easier.

I think it may have happened through What's App, we had a small residents group and others added people to it and we have no idea who they are.

Julian, I don't do much online at all, how do you block unwanted texts ?Only do things online when I'm forced to by Companies it gives me a headache.

Scam texts are rare but I get scam emails in waves. What puzzles me is why they think that I'll fall for it this time when I haven't the first 50 times.

I haven’t had many scam texts but just recently I’ve had on average maybe 1 a day. It just takes one company you’ve supplied your details to to be compromised and then you are liable to start getting them.

I'm on a right one tonight with issues.Think about why you get scam texts and emails.I don't get one scam email and zero scam texts.First port of call, don't spread your data around the wide, wide web.And think about where you put phone numbers
