Save local businesses - respond to Strand on the Green CPZ consultation

The current schemeThe SotG CPZ operates between Monday-Friday, 10am-Noon & 6-8pm and Saturday-Sunday, 2-4pm and incorporates Geraldine Road, Hearne Road, Meade Close, Oliver Close, Pyrmont Road, Spring Grove, Strand on the Green, Thames Road (in part) and Waldeck Road.The initial purpose of these times was to protect local parking provisions in light of the construction of Brentford FC’s stadium and the associated residential aspect of the development.Hounslow Council and its traffic officers ignored the protestations of local residents, local businesses and local councillors! But now they have seen the light. Lets give them two cheers .....The proposalsIn response to the petition received by the council, we are now seeking your views on whether the existing operational times should be replaced with controls that operate Monday-Friday, 10am-Noon and additional controls which operate as follows:Match days Monday-Friday, 6-8pm andMatch days Saturday, Sunday & public holidays, 2-4pm and 6-8pm

Hi Sam,It is very generous of SotG residents to provide convenient parking for anyone visiting the 1200 new residential units on the other side of the S Circular from them.Those flats have minimal parking provided so I am sure people who want to visit there will be grateful for the ability to park close-by as long as there isn't a match on.Residents in the new flats who don't have a parking space (so almost all of them), can park their cars in SotG if they are driving to work during the day and they'd just need to park a bit further on match days.I recall that a reason why the parking controls weren't just for matchdays was the parking pressure from the new developments beside the stadium (900 currently with another 300 progressing through planning).  Perhaps you have forgotten this, or haven't noticed the new flats.I trust that if SotG residents do want relaxation of parking controls and it turns out this is very handy parking for the new developments, you will be telling residents to stop complaining and suck it up because they got what they wanted.
