Does anyone know why the Chiswick Post Office is closed? It said on the door "due to unforseen circumstances..."I was there 2 days ago when it was busy and open.

Went in today (13th) the guy in the shop said it ‘should be’ open sometime next week!

My partner was informed yesterday by the guy who works on the shop counter that it would be reopening on Thursday

See post from Anita in the other thread on the Post Office. The 'technological problems' referred to could be a security issue which would be a major concern.

No update yet. I contacted the subpostmaster late last week but haven't had a reply. As soon as I hear from him I will add information here.

"I've checked with the subpostmaster who runs Chiswick post office. He has confirmed that this is a temporary closure and the post office will be back open from Wednesday, 7th May."Cllr Biddolph - any updates, as they seem to have given you incorrect information ?

I believe they've run out of stamps due to excessive demand, and as the new stamps are printed in Slovakia, they're held up at Customs in Zeebrugge, and may have to pay a tariff to get through.

On 3 May gentleman on the right hand side counter said it’s closed till Monday 5th.On Monday 5th he told us “It’s closed for another 2 weeks (till Saturday 17th)“For maintenance work” We just had a look inside and it looks dark, only the counter on the right hand side is open (when you enter)no building side NadaNiente

That sounds highly possible. There is a Banking Hub now in the Oaks Shopping Centre in Acton which might be just as easy to get to for many people - the E3 passes it and there is free parking on site.

It's a fluid situation.

"the chap behind the shop counter said he was unsure when it was reopening."That's odd, because yesterday he told me it was opening next week.

Presumably Mailbox do not provide the banking services that people have to use the Post Office for since the closure of local bank branches ?
Richard Greenhough ● 5d
Hammersmith PO is open for those in need of one.

Post Office was still closed as of this morning and the chap behind the shop counter said he was unsure when it was reopening.

I haven't stepped inside the Chiswick Post Office for years. I use Mailboxes etc near the junction with Acton Lane. As far as I am aware I pay the same price for postage.

Thank you.

Shame they didn't put 7th May on the notice. Too complicated obviously

I miss visiting the bank and post office but due to poor parking facilities have to pay by phone, becoming a hermit.

Charlotte, have you tried paying your bills by phone, a lot of places have automatic payment number you usually just need your account number.
Spent 90 mins yesterday failing to find an open post office. Hammersmith seems to have disappeared and Ravenscourt Park closed by the time I got there. Now can't pay bills until Tuesday. It's all well and good telling people that they can use the post office instead of their bank when that closes, but Chiswick has gone from having about a dozen post offices to one.

How long does it take to count crystal-esque 'ornaments' and vastly overpriced padded envelopes?

It was closed for “stock taking” yesterday, maybe it’s over run?

The Co-cp, M&S and now Harrods are being hit by cyber hackers, infiltrating data and holding firms to ransom. The Government is advising companies to scrutinise their security systems to make them safer.
