Hi everyone! This is a long shot, but we thought we’d try!On Thursday 21st March, my American mother-in-law met a lovely woman named Diana on the Tube, who mentioned she lives in Chiswick. Diana was on her way to meet some old colleagues in Farringdon, and they struck up a lovely conversation.Diana complimented my MIL’s tote bag, which was handmade, and they really hit it off. Hello Eva. I hope you have some success in locating that person.It's a fine example of how travelling by public transport can be so rewarding ... meeting and chatting to new people.Walking and talking I call it and,no joking, I have met and spoken with dozens and dozens of people over the months ... many memorable.It does make the day.I was in Teddington yesterday.A middle aged lady was sitting next to me on the "priority seat" at a busy bus stop. She said she had a very painful corn on her foot and couldn't drive her car. We had a good chat.Interestingly she said that when she does use her car ...say to go shopping ... she is often filled with anger from another motorists behavior afterwards and was not in a happy mode at all.I jump on buses with my Freedom Passwondering who will I be chatting with on this trip.?A lady from South Africa who loves living in London. An elderly lady who has been a Nurse locally ... but came from Malawi, a gentleman who regretted he had been to boarding school from the age of 7, an Isleworth Councillor who had helped me get into a sheltered home, a lady from Iran who used her mobile phone translation service to chat with me,several Polish people (I speak a few words!) and yesterday a chap from Osterley I hadn't seen for 30+ years.I've driven from Chiswick to John O'Groats a few times ... and hardly spoke to a sole!Walk and talk! Jump on a busIt can be very rewarding!Leave the car at home!
