Proposed care home development in Acton Lane

Whatever the merits or otherwise of this proposal, I wish developers wouldn’t talk nonsense, as their blurb says  ‘..the materials chosen aim to harmonise with nearby buildings including the listed Old Packhorse pub…’ while the images show a white block in complete contrast to the red brick pub on the corner. And bang goes the camera shop, locksmiths, hairdressers and bathroom showrooms. Unusual not to maintain some street level retail in this location.

Whatever colour they are these boxy soulless buildings are never going to enhance the area.The poor people who end up living there may find they are next to a massive building site when the redevelopment of Sainsbury's goes ahead.

Blends in if you ask me. You say white,the estate agents on the left in part is white,i dont see a white block myself, The grey road looks more white than the building which tells you that the colour is not exactly 100% correct and never is in these cgi picture guides.

If the blurb had said ‘..a creamy white block designed to brighten up the place in contrast to the dark and dreary pub next door..’ that would have been fine - and more accurate and honest - but that’s not what they said, so why should we believe anything else they say about ‘dementia friendly sensory gardens’ and the rest.

I prefer it being that colour than red brick as long as its kept clean over time. Brightens up the place in my view
