Labour busybodies

Well done Israel  kicking out those two glory hunting Labour MPs Gaza doesn't need busybodies at the moment.

Thanks for responding Denis. If it hadn’t been for your (mistaken) post, I wouldn’t now know the two MPs in question were the first British MPs to have been born in China and Yemen … which just might prove useful in a pub quiz one day (but probably won’t!) - so I’ve learnt something (probably useless)

I’m curious Denis, why did you mention Pakistan MPs in a thread about the two Labour MPs who were deported from Israel?Did some Pakistan politicians also get deported as well as the Labour MPs?

Correction - British MPs, not Pakistani MPs.

I question the use of the word 'busybody' in particular in Yuan Yang's case. Before becoming a politician, she was a distinguished journalist, working both for The Economist and the FT (where she was deputy head of the Beijing bureau). I doubt there was any 'glory' for her in this.

Sovereign countries are at liberty to refuse entry to anyone they feel might undermine or harm them.I suspect Israel thought the Pakistan MPs might give a biased or loaded account of events in Gaza.Didn't we banish the Duke of York's mate, Yang Tengbo, Chinese diplomat from our shores last December.

Since overseas journalists are not allowed in to Israel to freely report on what is happening and there are accusations of humanitarian and International Law being broken - why not?If no laws are being broken there should not be a problem but history has shown that that may not be the case.I am reminded that my FIL was amazed and unbelieving that the local people living and working near the concentration camp that he and others in the British Army liberated had no idea of what was happening there.

Too right! We can’t have anyone asking how and why nearly 50,000 Palestinian men, women and children have been killed by Israeli forces in the past year or so, together with wholesale destruction of homes and infrastructure. Nothing to see here!
