Timpsons on Turnham Green Terrace

I was very sorry to see Chiswick Cobblers go but assumed that Timpsons would be a good replacement.I have taken boots that needed resoling, shoes to be reheeled, and every time either proposed an extremely high price or just told it couldn't be done and I should just buy a new pair.  Mostly unfriendly,unhelpful "don't care" tone.Took the shoes either to the excellent stall near Sainsbury's entrance, or the one at Hammersmith tube and got a perfectly decent job done at a sensible price with a good turnaround. Sadly Elias now has restricted opening hours so aren't easy to use.Is anybody getting a good job from this Timpsons - or a similar poor experience I am aware of what a great chap James Timpson is and also that other Timpson shops do excellent work but I don't know what is going on here.

I would highly recommend Timpsons on TGT. Timpsons is a family-owned and successful business. Perhaps you could read about their approach to employing people and you might just choose not to post so negatively.

The shoe mender at Essex Place near Sainsbury’s did a perfectly good job on my boots in just two  days. Not cheap, but a sensible fair price  for a proper standard. So I’m not sure why the man from Timpson’s told me it just wasn't possible.

Injection moulded soles are expensive and time consuming to repair.

The Brentford Cobbler is very good,independent business as well.Only a short bus ride away.

I have had excellent service there, though the man is gruff in style. I've been there several times for small problems but always came away happy. Last time the pin on my watch that fixes the strap to the watch failed. I went there on the off chance he would have one. He had hundreds of them at different sizes, found one that fiited and reattached my strap. Lovely. I asked him how much I owed him and he said there was no charge. Doubly lovely.
