What's happened at Duke's Meadows this aftenooon 15/2/25?

Substantial police blockade for foot and car traffic. Maybe 15 cars prevented from leaving from Riverside Club area and King's Sports Grounds at 4pm and foot traffic not allowed to go around either.

That's right. Incidents like this rarely make the press but, in this case, the police obviously felt that they had to make a comment given the incorrect speculation on social media which included somebody being shot dead.

Yes, they do a lot behind the scenes in stopping attacks before they happen, there are many planned attacks thwarted that we never hear about.

So at around three o'clock on Saturday afternoon a group of police officers approached an armed man having been told there was 'concern for his welfare'. They managed to de-escalate the situation with nobody getting hurt.  Although situations like this don't happen every day, officers will regularly be put in situations with an elevated risk of injury or death. They choose to do this to keep the public safe. The police are not perfect and there are some really terrible ones but all of them are required to respond to incidents like the one that took place in Chiswick at the weekend. You may have a negative view about the police based on personal interactions but you need to consider whether the issue was you rather than them.
