New shops Devonshire Road

I know it’s often disappointing to see shops leave the High Road and TGT etc but we should also celebrate the arrival of new businesses.   And on Devonshire Road, there are 4 new shops soon to open.    Rozies (a cupcake shop) and Dawat (a Pakistani/Afghan takeaway) look like they will soon open and there are two other premises when renovation work is well under way.  Looking forward to seeing what they are!

I think there is a vacant unit on the right hand side just as you enter the road from CHR so maybe there.The bread at their Fulham bakery is delicious but very expensive. Try the olive bread. You'd have to assume it would be baked in Fulham with the Chiswick branch stocked by deliveries early in the morning as it is fiendishly expensive and difficult to get bakers in London.

The fish were kept in good condition, the other live animals as food. Fish are often kept in far worse conditions when they leave the shop.We should reconsider the sale of exotics as pets too. For that matter many small furries live a less than ideal life, especially when bought as presents for children. There is no monitoring that I know of of small furries other than rabbits and annual the PDSA PAW reports consistently show concerns about how poor rabbit welfare is when they are kept as pets. Pets At Home place their small furries at floor level which is extremely stressful considering that dogs are passing right by the enclosures.

They also enable you to try food that you're unlikely to find locally in fixed premises e.g. while I might try bagels at a market, I'm a little sceptical that there would be sufficient local demand to sustain a cafe or shop specialising on bagels (unless it suddenly becomes really trendy like bubble tea, or gelaterias seem to have done in the last few years)

There is mention of a bakery opening on Devonshire Road."Kate @mothersbakehouse has been at our market for a while now and has shared some exciting news – she will be opening a full time Bakery on Devonshire Road sometime later this spring. Work has already started, and she says that the great customers at Chiswick Cheese Market and the vibe of the market and High Road made her want to put down roots here. Thanks Roger but I find the sale of snakes, lizards and other reptiles to be unacceptable.  They should be in the wild and not cramped up in a glass tank sold for profit.  Your comment is misjudged and quite rude sir.

Nami Oriental has also opened on the road with little fanfare. I used to really like Hoji, and while this doesn't seem as well stocked, it has some very interesting stuff.

I hope that the new ventures in Devonshire Road succeed, I like the sound of Dawat.
