Labour lied when it said it will look after working people. They have demonstrated that they won’t look after working people or pensioners or the sick and frail. They seem intent on looking after illegal immigrants though.

"...... what Labour meant when it said it would be looking after working people."So how please will Labour look after those working people in retail when 1) retailers close shops in Q1 after Xmas they previously would not have and close even more in Q2 post NI / min wage / business rates increases from April; 2) retailers reduce staff hours to try and keep marginal shops viable rather than close altogether; and 3) retailers cut back on new store openings as the capex required is no longer there.

Its over for labour,just a waiting game while some of those on the front bench get pushed to the back benches or fall.The way its gone so far,im not sure starmer gets to 2027 as leader.By then those with ambitions will be doing everything to remove him as party leader.Notably rayner and more so streeting,hes not going to alow this fiasco to carry and carry on knowing labours chances of a second term are pretty slim

I am very disappointed with the Labour government on this. However let us not forget that Mr Cameron and Mr Osborne are responsible for accelerating these pension changes as part of their austerity agenda, leaving future governments to clear up the mess. As for not fair on the taxpayer having to finance compensation, I think that you will find Waspi women are tax payers too! Women born in the 50s and early 60s are now paying income tax and NI for an extra 6-8 years and the government have saved billions in raising the pension age for men and women. Why is there no money for compensation, as has been recommended, when extra revenue has been gained?? Not to mention all the premature deaths due to Covid-19. Surely the govt has saved a fortune in pension payments here too? Of course I am disgusted with Labour's hypocrisy but previous governments are to blame for the problems we reap today.

Rayner clearly said that these women would be compensated within 5 years of a Labour government. Even that was quite devious (just to get votes) because her hope was obviously that many of these women would be dead by then. Coupled with those dying of hypothermia, due to the cancellation of Winter Fuel Payments, that’s quite a few dwarfs Labour are hoping for.

I think the main issue is that Labour campaigned in support of some sort of compensation just to get votes that’s is plain wrong but this is just one item in a long list of many that they were never honest about. People will remember and they will be out at the next election because so far they have not done one decent thing for any group in society.

I think this is a case of complete hypocrisy, and I don't believe that the government couldn't have found some sort of solution, even that proposed by the Parliamentary Ombudsman. To dismiss this claim out of hand is just appalling, and they deserve all the criticism being heaped upon them.

Fair to whom? Certainly not to the c.4 million pensioners affected. She promised much to get elected and once in post delivered nothing. It seems to be the mark of ministers in this administration. I have never seen the veneer of honesty break down quite so quickly.

She has stuck to her promise and delivered a fair solution. The idea that taxpayers should pick up a £10.5B bill for ignorance is ridiculous. Does the government send us a letter every time they change something? Of course not.

Statement to house Secretary Liz Kendall issued an apology for a 28-month delay in sending out letters to those born in the 1950s impacted by state pension changes. However, she said she doesn't accept that compensation should be paid. No compensation was set aside by last GVMT and we were left with a 24M black hole
You could not make it up. It is a daily drop to the bottom labour is tanking even more by the day
