Hi there,I work for the Park and wanted to share the statement announced today. This year Chiswick Park Enjoy–Work will not be delivering a fireworks display.  We have been thinking about the longer-term viability of hosting this event since we had to cancel last year. We have considered a multitude of factors when coming to this difficult decision including the wider park impact, the unpredictability of the weather, impact on wildlife, the local community and sustainability of these types of events. We have also been forced to consider how fireworks sit against our ESG credentials.  Many fireworks contain oxidisers known as perchlorates which can dissolve in water, contaminating rivers, lakes and drinking water, fireworks also propel a cocktail of chemicals and metallic compounds such as barium and aluminium into the atmosphere, many of which can negatively impact people, air quality and the environment. When we considered these factors together, we concluded that hosting a display is at odds with our place in the community and as custodians of the park.Whilst we appreciate that this will be disappointing to some of you, we will be bringing an accessible and inclusive end of year celebration to the park. Our aim is to not replace the fireworks like for like, but to give our guests and community the chance to engage with the park over a longer period, to try some new activities and enjoy some festive fayre. We will be launching this event in November, but more details and reservation information will be provided earlier.  We look forward to welcoming you to a different but equally excellent programme. However, if fireworks are still high on your must see list this Autumn, there is a display in Richmond at Richmond Athletic Ground on 3rd November. As well as the choreographed display, the event includes funfair rides, food and drink stalls — plus an afterparty in the Members' Bar.
