Anyone have any news regarding the 5 or so police cars, 3 fire trucks, and ambulance headed towards the pier?

I can't comment with any authority but it seems to be the standard operating practice in my experience. Presumably different vehicles bring different specialists e.g. medical examiners, retrieval equipment. Also if it is a sighting of a person in the water the more emergency workers in attendance, the more likely a successful outcome if they are still alive.

A, ie. ONE, body? Wouldn't that be a case of overkill?

I don't know what has happened but this is a regular occurrence when a body is reported in the water. Hopefully, like last time, it turns out to be a false alarm.
