Thank you all for these posts - some of which made me laugh out loud in the office. Have to say it is an incredibly brave venture and Chiswick isn't the obvious choice but I do hope they make a go of it.

Happy memories Guy.There was a bier keller in Windsor by the station. Being a sober sort of chap I didn't go there. Well not too often.The Yanks have great tunes, the Germans noisy ones but the Irish have passion!

Reminds me of the fashion for a Bier KellerI was a callow student living in Ilford but a few times I visited my old friend who was living in Putney. There was a bier keller there which featured a Bavarian guy complete with lederhosen, green felt hat with a feather. Lots of Bavarian songs which we 'sang' along to. As the Pilsner flowed, particularly down the neck of the musician, the music subtly changed and we ended up with songs of the Irish Republicans such as Off to Dublin in the Green, and the pilsner became Guinness

Brilliant Andrew!I won't try to top it even if I could. Back in the day there were quite a few Irish bars in Hammersmith with live Irish bands having a right old rip roaring time.  Having lived in the Emerald Isle for some time  I can tell you they  really  knew how to have a good time.This new venue could be a  badly needed breath of fresh air to W4..
