Antonov An-26B

Just flown overhead at 17,000ft. Any ideas what this flight is about? This model is listed as having been supplied to the Russian, Pakistani and Vietnamese armed forces. Saddam Hussein used to come in and out of the country on the quiet to see his doctor (didn’t trust Iraqi ones)…Putin?

I use Flightradar from time to time. What hits you is just the sheer number of flights in the air around the globe.Vesselfinder tracks maritime movements worldwide. Again it's surprising just how much tonnage is ploughing the high seas.

I was tracking this tonight, too. It did leave Birmingham airport (at 8pm), and i can see now that it landed at Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport. Wish this site could upload screenshots, so I could share!

HaIts not a hobby for me,i dont do spotting or whatever is called these days. Just take an interest now and then in movements and what the industry is sometimes doing.If you want an array of old,past and modern then the airport to look at on flightradar is anchorage.Full of cargo 747s and more. Mainly used as a pit stop for fuel between north america and asia. That way they can carry less fuel thus more cargo

I looked up Vulcan Air and it wasn't listed as one of theirs. The rest of their fleet looked very small and modern...The An-26B is about 40 years old and a Russian built aircraft of that age...?? It's now over Geneva and has climbed to 19,000ft.  It's ground speed was c260kph over England and the Dover Straits but slowed to c219kph throughout Belgium and France. It has increased to c232kph over Switzerland....now 240kph.  I'm thinking I really must get a better hobby.

On looking this is what i looked up years agoSame model plane operated by Vulkan Air who are a cargo operator and based in UKRAINE.? Also fly into birmingham now and then

I looked this up years ago thats why birmingham was a hunchIts a chartered plane operated by FLIGHTLINE Used for cargoon looking again.It shows it landed at birmingham from "Vitoria Airport is an airport near Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the Basque Country of Spain"Thats all i know.Did you hear it ? Its something you would hear if quite outside. Same for the Atlas or Globemaster,all quite a distinctive sound even if 30,000ft up.
