Sub zero fridge

Does anyone know of an engineer for a blocked drain in a fridge without a £250 call out charge?  I’ve tried following instructions to clear on the internet but can’t get to the drain

The problem with these really expensive domestic appliances is that they are made in fairly limited quantities so the manufacturers limit the supply of spares and can control the aftermarket.  Unlike cars there is no incentive for  third parties to make pattern components as there simply isn't the market for them.

Like everything the more expensive they are then the more complicatedthey are, my fridge broke down during Covid so I just ordered a cheap one Online thinking I wouldn't like it and sort it our after the lockdown, have been pleasantly surprised as it is so quiet, plenty of room with the doorstorage, good door seals and closure, a 'FRIDGEMASTER' very pleased with it.

Thank you. In the end, I got a friend to help and we pretty much took the fridge apart and eventually got to the tube which was easily cleared.

For such a simple operation on other fridges its almost as if they went out of their way to make it as difficult as possible on these models,Howver if the cause of the blockage is that the water is frozen in  the pipe then switching off the fridge for a short time  and directing a fan heater at the back might help clear the blockageWhile in the instructions they positively Discourage pushing anything into the flexible pipe as that may damage it.michael adams

It's a Sub Zero they start northwards of 10,000 pounds and go up to 30,000 pounds

Use googleThey say make sure The drain trough is empty of water,stick pipe cleaner into hole and move up and down. Mix one quart of warm water with two caps full of bleach and a few drops of dish detergent.Slowly pour into trough,leave for a while and then use pipe cleaner again. Repeat process.It should end up drain pan and clear of blockage

Because it is a sub zero and one of the most expensive fridges on the market those who wish to repair it and who can get hold of any parts needed will inflate their prices accordingly. I wish you very good luck in finding someone who will do it at 'normal' rates

You could look at the back of the fridge,there may be a drainpipe leading to a small reservoir that collects the water.Trace the pipe back to the drain hole and see if the pipe will disconnect so you can clear it,but make sure first you would be able to refit it.

Unfortunately I can’t get to the drain hole - I know it should be straightforward but it’s not on this model - so still looking for an engineer

I use a pipe cleaner (left over from the days when I was a pipe smoker) to clear the drain hole - usually works a treat.

Sometimes there's a plastic filter at the top that you pull out, it's flexible.

There's usually a drain hole at the back of the fridge,near to the bottom.Get a long cable tie and push and pull the thin end in and out repeatedly.
