Caenoplana variegata
This afternoon I was potting up various plants and came across a long very thin worm (about 10 cms). It was black with a gold brown stripe from head to tail.A chrome search identifies it as a ‘yellow striped flatworm’ originating from Australia and found in London from 2008. Bug life says it’s non native and detrimental to our native wild life as it can harbour various diseases and is very predatory on our native earthworms The advice is to destroy it. It certainly arrived from a long way. Anyone else found them under pots and bags of compost?
