DMs again

My recent attempts to send direct messages have all just resulted in this blunt response popping up on screen -Mail Send failed : FAILI know the matter was discussed on a thread here in 2020 and apparently then resolved.  And of course I know about the necessity of putting something in the subject line.  Thoughts, suggestions?

I fail even to register up for the "newish format" newchiswickw4.com Alistair.For some reason I'm unable to log in.Same on trying to join up with 'newbrentfordtw8.com.After 20 years on these Forums ...what can it be ? !Thw image posters in here have obviously succeeded.

I don’t think it can be done there either (having just tried to DM you, Jim).  Posters’ names can’t be highlighted there the way they can on this old format.  Here’s a quote from the owners on the 2020 thread I mentioned“The functionality for direct messaging has not been added yet to the new forum design."Still the case it seems.
