Congrats to Pleydell Ave re EV Bays
Rather impressed with the residents of Pleydell Avenue in their unanimous response to the sudden imposition of EV only bays: https://www.chiswickw4.com/default.asp?section=info&page=conparking138.htmAlthough as an EV driver, I am supposed to benefit from this sudden push, the way it is suddenly being imposed without proper consultation, without clarity and without careful research as to the benefits and disbenefits is clearly unfair and potentially very harmful. So many questions:- do most EV drivers actually want to charge their cars from lamp posts - I suspect many prefer other methods. Are the existing ones being used. Is there a real demand? - how will it impact the parking needs of the majority, for overnight parking. Where else can other cars park? Are there enough bays? - Which suppliers will be used - half the time these lamp post charging points don't work properly and don't have helplines.Normally changes to resident parking have to be done with lots of consultation which can take up to a year - but this is just being imposed in a rush. The sad thing is that it is counter productive to those of us who would actually like to see more EVs - but growing adoption will be on the basis of how good, reliable and cost effective they are and well chosen decent incentives - not on heavy hand Council actions like these which hurt other drivers.
