As someone who posted about looming 'carmageddon' I'd just like to make it clear that I did not intend to suggest that the closure of the North Circular one way represented an existential threat to humanity. It was meant in jest and intended to warn people to make contingency plans. If you thought I was being serious and this caused you any distress I am truly sorry. However, if it prompted you to give away all your worldly possessions or engage in an orgy of bacchanalian excess, I can't be held responsible.

Of course I do and I make contingency plans to compensate. Given some of the 'world ending' posts on this and Facebook fora onewould think that a four day road closure was existential.

I don't think people are being alarmist, just making sure that as many as people were aware of the looming issue so that they could change their plans as necessary. I, for one, was grateful to be forewarned. It was an act of neighbourliness on behalf of those sharing this information.

It wasn't expected to open until Tuesday so that is good news!Thank goodness we now have the IT to find out where there are problems on the roads before we attempt to travel nowadays.  Now now Nigel don't tell me you don't check a route before you travel!

Time to be creative with what's in the store cupboard and fridge and freezer to avoid getting stuck in the increased gridlock until Gunnersbury Avenue roadworks are completed!  Back to things on toast (or crackers if you've run out) for a few meals  - a bit of deja vu.A good time to investigate the different online deliveries - both large and small - and electric bikes.

No thanks, wet, cold, raining and I have two much shopping from Sainsbury’s …. Oh and I’m  in my 70’s and my body just can’t take cycling anymore.
