My thoughts on Israel and hamas

Israel is defending itself against the hamas rapists who have sworn to repeat October 7 and the war it started and who’s charter calls for the eradication of Israel and killing all jews worldwide. Just stop and think about this for a moment: hamas is dedicated to the eradication of Israel and the murder of every jew on the planet… and they dare to call Israel’s attack a holocaust.All sides make mistakes in war. Israel has apologised and has held a full enquiry. Where is the Hamas apology and enquiry into October 7. That was deliberate. This was an accident just as the UK and US had accidents in Iraq. It happens in war.Did these aid workers even ask hamas about the hostages?   Did they try to get aid to the hostages… at least one of whom was tortured to death.In Israel 20% of the population are Arabs who serve in the army, sit in the Knesset, dominate the national soccer side, can be Miss Israel, sit in the supreme court. Hardly apartheidAn unarmed Jewish state would soon be wiped out as Hamas has pledged to do in its charter and as the theocrats of Iran and the Houthis in Yemen ( who make those prattish marchers in London every weekend so terribly “proud”) publicly state they will do. They are not disarming, yet folks like Ed Davey and he who runs Scotland think that the Israelis should be disarmed.  Such is the path to finishing off the work of Hitler and folks who really are fascists.

But the status quo before 7 October wasn't acceptable either as the situation has been festering and 7 October was just the date it really hit international headlines. The Saturday marches don't call themselves pro-Hamas as the OP suggests but contain a mix of organisations and religions as they include CND and others wanting a cease-fire and the release of the hostages and other prisoners.  Hamas is a proscribed organisation and those identified as being demonstrably pro Hamas are likely to be identified and arrested.

I think ‘extremist’ is a weasel word used to condemn anyone with radically different ideas from one’s own.  One person’s extremist is another’s hero.  I’m sure Jesus and Nelson Mandela were condemned as extremists in their time.  The antonym is ‘moderate’.  There may be some injustices that demand extreme action for which moderation would be inadequate.  So let’s avoid that word and talk about issues instead.

No confusion, just an incredibly brave individual explaining the reality of Hamas, if you think for one moment Hamas care about the Palestinians then Philippa you are seriously confused. Thank you Julian, whilst it is incredibly sad to hear the truth, truth matters, no matter how hard it is to accept. Mosab’s speech was incredible, it gives us hope that there are some amazing Palestinians who actually care about their people. How can anyone use religion for torture, rape, war……..

Wow Julian, thank you he talks from the heart and a position of knowledge & passion for the Palestinian people far greater than any journalist, politicians or anyone on this forum. It’s a desperate situation but in my heart I know Hamas care little about their own people or society because what they did on 7th October was pure evil or ‘savages’ sums them up. That’s doesn’t negate the killing of civilians In Palestine or the lack of aid. It just demonstrates that’s dealing with Hamas is beyond anything we can comprehend, they love chaos and have zero humanity for a single other human, they are extremely dangerous. We all know Iran is behind this and we all know how dangerous they are, Putin there are evil men on this planet.

As I understood it, the USA would withdraw support verbally in part but not arms while Germany has said nothing and the rest have no influence on Israel's stockpile The USA has its own huge arms depo in Israel which gives fast supply in any regional conflict. A sizeable amount of shells stocked were transported from Israel to Ukraine.You can condemn, withdraw support or full support but can't stop supplying arms. That would be madness for all if Israel became weak and not ableto defend itself. That is what not only Hamas would like to happen but its backers. And its direct backer would be not only a big threat but an issue the West would never allow

Our ‘arms sales’ to Israel are negligible compared with what the US gives them.  And while Israel imported about £4bn worth of arms last year, it exported about £10bn worth, mostly drones, missiles, rockets and electronic warfare systems, as well as surveillance systems, for which the present Gaza conflict must provide an excellent advertising platform!

As I understood it the talk was of not disarming the Israelis but of not further arming the Israelis.  Several western allies have suspended sending arms to Israel.

Thanks for that Julian - a real eye opener. The problem is that the UN will simply wring its hands in gesture politics and do nothing, hoping the problem will disappear onto the back burner, and they can carry on as before. We need many more people like Mosab Hassan Yousef.
