Flower stalls

On the subject of clear pavements.......is anyone else annoyed by the ever encroaching flower stalls? The worse offender being the one outside Tesco. There is barely room to get past.I cannot imagine for 1 minute that they have a licence allowing these stalls to occupy the area that they do. Equally, I cannot imagine they pay a licence fee that reflects the area they occupy. I wonder if the information is available somewhere

The Wheelers Flower Stalls are so much part of Chiswick and one of its quirks. I find it almost unbelievable that someone would be so enraged about them to bother posting about it as a problem. Just weird. Now folks on mobility scooters driving down the pavement at break neck speed (no pun intended) I’m all for restricting those Ayrton Seena wannabes!

It's impossible to run any stall without a vehicle for storage of things youwould need throughout the day.

I think if the flower stalls are being bashed then the Flower Market should take a beating too.  In fact maybe there is a plan for The Flower Market to take over the flower stalls.  That wouldn't surprise me.

Please, stop having a go at the flower stalls! They are beautiful, smell amazing, and add to the ambience of the High Road. I can't believe that people are complaining about them - support them!

Wheelers are far from the only independent local business to routinely park illegally. People worried about limited parking for customers would do well to observe the number of traders who park their private vehicles permanently on TGT, Devonshire Road and The Old Marketplace ….,

Think you are referring to Wheelers, they have been in chiswick for decades, great flowers at great price not to mention the garden centre. We should be supporting our local traders that have been around for decades I believe the father started it over 50 years ago. Let’s stop moaning, they pay for the space so support them. Outside the tube station is a godsend for thousands of people and they brighten up the High Road. Support them 💐💐💐🌹🌼 business is tough for everyone right now so let’s not make life even harden for a fantastic local company.

According to the Hounslow website, a 'Permanent Traders Annual Licence Fee' is £134.64 per square metre, though a lot of the Hounslow information seems be about licensing pavement seating for cafes.  Maybe our local councilors will know more about the history of this company's occupation of CHR.

That particular company seems determined to occupy as much of Chiswick as it can! As well as their ever-expanding stalls that in some places reduce the wide CHR pavements to what I assume is some two metre legal minimum, they also occupy much of the pavement outside Turnham Green Station. It seems that, for some time, they occupied part of this area without a licence. They also seem to have some arrangement whereby they can leave their vans parked on the double yellow lines in front of St Michaels Church or outside the station.
