PLUMDUFF REOPENS - WITH NEW PRICES!

Good to see this place back, and obviously a small price change in this day age was inevitable, but £10 for a breakfast and £3.20 for a coffee is now inline with the high street and far away from what it used to be. Has anyone tried? Have they ignored their strong customer base for profit?

They have acknowledged some of their new prices need adjusting. ie a small danish pastry to take away was priced at £2.70. The same freshly cooked pastries are available at just over £1 on the high street. Of course it's difficult to compete with multi national offerings, but their prices need to be a bit closer, given comparable quality.

That's encouraging for their future if they sell out so easily.Hopefully they will bake some more loaves daily.

The counter argument is that rents and rates will be cheaper for the location and that might be reflected in prices. It will be an adjustment for some that it doesn't offer the exceptional value we had previously but the coffee is noticeably better. What is the price and quality of fresh loaves? I've been in twice and they've been sold out both times.

So many are quick to bemoan local business closures yet expect them to survive on thin air. Try running a business and charging less than your costs, 'strong customer base' or not.

£10 for a breakfast sounds about right if its ok and £3.20 for a coffee is about the norm. You cant run a buisness now charging £6 for a breakfast and £2 for a coffee. Price of food and overheads dont allow that. I think £10 to sit down for a breakfast is less than a hours wage now.
