Clear pavements at all times

Please leave ample room on the pavements for the visually impaired at all times. Do not obscure the pavements by leaving dustbins on the outside of your properties.For parents pushing prams, and for the disabled pushing their rollators, simply think of others.

We had the same instructions in Ealing, where we have wheelie bins, but however painstakingly we followed them, the refuse teams usually leave the bins out on the pavement.

I would like everybody to made aware of the following which has been set out by the LBH.Right place - Your rubbish and recycling is left in the correct location for collection, this is at the front edge of your property but not on the pavement and clearly visible. Containers must not be presented on the pavement which may block access for pedestrians.

It is also inconsiderate to trail cables for charging your car across the pavement especially if you don't use the specially made covers for them and preferably very visible yellow ones.  In fact I don't think you are supposed to do it all and it just tends to be tolerated because of the difficulty to otherwise find cheap and local street charging.

"I think most pedestrians in Chiswick would complain more about bikes than cars."That would be because pedestrians like to have the pavements to themselves even when they are officially designated shared use (which so often isn't at all clear).  Cyclists will creep up from behind at speed and try and squeeze through with no thought for anyone other than themselves - that is except for the lovely considerate ones who give a gentle 'ping' on their bell to alert you that they are there. I have to say that I do hate bins on the pavement especially if they stay there over the holidays with no arrangements made with neighbours to move them off it and I fully agree about the problem and stress of them not being emptied but the usual Council info is that they should be visible as the operatives go by collecting at speed.  I would be complaining if the operatives left them in the middle of the pavement - or threw down the food waste bins - as I have seen.  Somebody should be monitoring them.

Hi Caroline, I can sympathise with how you feel. Internet forums can be a cesspit.I can't change much, but I try my best - when I'm out and about, either on foot or on my bike - to say hello, thank you and smile at people who are kind to me. And I try not to let those who aren't get on my nerves. The majority of people out there are good, be them at the wheel, on a bike or on foot that's what I choose to believe.

NFBUK? Isn't that the rabidly anti-cycling group who staged that laughable stunt on Chiswick High Road where notorious ex-Councillor from Hackney, Vincent Stops, stood on the zebra crossing for the bus stop outside the Eye Studio and filmed Andrew Hodgson, the President of NFBUK, taking a circuitous route to cross the road away from the crossing. Pah!

I think most pedestrians in Chiswick would complain more about bikes than cars.Regarding bins, I find if they aren't on the pavement then they often aren't collected. The bin men NEVER put them back inside a front boundary, often being left in the middle of the pavement. I sympathise with them though because they almost certainly don't have time in the schedule to do so. The emptied bins then of course become a convenient receptacle for dog poo bags from walkers. Sometimes they haven't even bothered to tie the bag closed.

No Frances I was not having a bad day I am having a bad 14 years.  I was not referring to your post which was perfectly pleasant and informative I was referring to all the car vs bike posts which are as always self orientated, inconsiderate and just downright boring over and over again.  If a postcomes after yours it does not necessarily follow it is about yours.  When you are stuck in your house 247 you want to read interesting things about what people are doing or what they can inform us about locally. The car vs bike lobby would make you think they are the only road and pavement users and they are not. When they are not abusing each other they abuse those who have something else to say.

Round our way (in Ealing without the designated Hounslow bike zones), Lime bikes are so persistently left in the middle of the pavement or on a prominent corner that I can only imagine the company must put them out like that to be more visible, as most normal users would surely leave them up against a wall or railing or otherwise out of peoples’ way.

Looks like it.  Yes unfortunately there are people who make it worse for themselves by instead of just being irritated by bikes parked on the pavements and slanging off those people who try to carefully park a bike by pushing them over. Bikes also don't naturally climb up lamp posts either!I see Wandsworth are putting more specific places for parking in on their streets.  The problem is that how far will you have to walk in order to find a place and will it make it worthwhile cycling.  The roads get far more clogged up with cars both parked and non-parked.

Blah blah blah cars.  Blah lah blah bikes,  Blah blah blah cars, Blah blah blah bikes, Blah blah blah cars. Blah blah blah bikes. Blah blah blah cars.  Anyone who does not drive or ride a bike utterly sick of every discussion ending up with these self obsessed abuse fests. Other people use the roads and pavements too not just vehicles that do over 20mph.  Push wheelchairs with children nd disabled people have to cross roads and traverse pavements. Parents with young children and push chairs need safe spaces to get out and about in. Teenagers going to and coming from school use roads too and are a higher percentage of those in accidentson our roads than you would think. Elderly people are killed by cars, buses and bicycles every year and yet therearetwogroupsonthissiteandcreepingintoothers that just use any safety discussion like it is their own bully chat site.  Just stop it and behave like adults all of you it's disgusting knowing what people go through to get around now adays and coming here seeing this all the time you are eually abuseive and stupid start your own site and a shout at each other all you want

I was cycling on CHR yesterday morning, on the cycleway about where the WTF Chip shop is (so Ravenscourt Park) when I saw one of those Lime Bikes laying half on the pavement and haf on the Lane. So I unclipped, stopped, got off and put the bike back on its stand (God they’re heavy!) and carried on.As fate would have it, I went back about 30’ later and found it back on its side again. A passing dog walker told me that a lady pushed it on the ground and that she always does it. You do wonder what goes through people’s minds sometimes.

I thought for one moment you were going to talk about humans. I had 3 on TGT chatting on the pavement and not moving.Two ladies on thornton avenue chatting next to the tree and not moving and i said "dont move will you" given no space,dont worry i will find a space inbetween cars and go around.And 4 people walking towards me with not one  thought of taking a back step. And then we have the humans with mobile phones of whom i walk straight and wait for them to put on the breaks
