Plumber for boiler repair

Not a good start to the week to wake up to no hot water or heating.My regular (of many years) plumber has just responded to say he is not currently working.Can anyone recommend a pleasant reliable plumber to came and fix the problem.

Georgina go with Jackie’s recommendations.  I can’t name the company as it was my neighbour who was unhappy.  I also found that they were expensive.

Unfortunately when I checked round with my neighbours, one had had a poor experience with them.  Another recommended her plumber who has been wonderful. No problem with the actual boiler but an air lock which he sorted and then the boiler trying to start up and then shutting down.  He came this afternoon ( yes it is Sunday) and after an hour he found the problem with a very awkwardly placed corroded sensor which needs replacing.  With luck the part is in stock and will arrive on Tuesday.  He assured me that the boiler a Worcester is in good shape but at 14 there will be associated parts which need replacing.

Worth checking and bleeding your radiators in case there is air in the heating system - if the radiator is hotter at the bottom than the top this usually indicates air there.

That's good news. I can't believe Peter is away again, he's always on holiday somewhere nice!Boilers can occasionally 'dump' their pressure. Mine did it once for no reason at all that could be determined and once refilled has behaved itself since.

Thanks for the replies.  Peter Earles is currently away  it will get in touch when he returns.In the meantime I remembered that due to my injury I have not been into the loft to check the pressure valve.  I did get up the ladder and sure enough the pointer was at zero.  Refilled got down the ladder (phew) and then reset the boiler and pressed the HW.  After a moment or two it gurgled and started.  I will leave it running for a while to settle down.I have long known that this is an essential check before calling for a plumber so can’t explain why I didn’t do it this time?
