Inspirational Georgia Bell
Reading this story it struck me that she is a great example for us all. While we mostly won't have had her talent or competed at the elite level, her achievement shows that, if you had an active childhood, even a period of relative indolence as an adult means that have lost all the benefits. I was an enthusiastic but incompetent participant in sport at school but abandoned serious physical exercise for far longer than Georgia. Nevertheless, when I started running and cycling regularly in recent years I found I had a base of fitness to work from and got to a level I thought had passed me by.The other important thing this drives home is how important it is to ensure children are active and taking part in sports. I don't seen many obese children in this area but the figures nationally are quite frightening and point to a potential health crisis in future decades.
