Honest Burger

Ordered delivery at 18.51 direct from branch website (Chiswick) and was told it would be sent out at 19.29. At 20.00 I called to ask where it was and was told it had "Been in the hot box for 20mins" and would be with us soon. I told them this was not acceptable and asked for a full refund and the person passed me over to a manager who told me I would have to take it up with Uber Eats. I told them I did not order through Uber Eats and wanted a refund from Honest Burger to which the manager said "You need to take it up with them (Uber Eats) and then said "I am too busy" and hung up on me. I tried calling back repeatedly but they had obviously taken the phone off the hook. Food then arrived at 20.20 and was, as expected, stone cold. This is ridiculously bad service and cost me £51.00 which in my opinion should be from Honest Burger and NOT from Uber Eats. Why is the onus on me to get my refund from a company that I didn't know was involved!I feel justified in posting this on an open forum as I did give Honest Burger every chance to make amends but to have the phone slammed down on you is not good customer relations.

If you google 'can undercooked beef burgers make you ill'. It does say maycontain harmful bacteria that could cause food poisoning, you Have to make sure it's cooked right through.

I don’t. Meat is disgusting but I have no problem with everyone else eating raw burgers as long as they don’t rely on the NHS to save them. Comments on this thread do indeed confirm why the UK has the most fatties in Europe. And yet people complain that the NHS is crumbling. "There is no law that says a burger must be cooked to a specific degree of doneness - if there were, you wouldn't be able to buy a steak tartare. It's not possible to like a post on this forum but Chris's response would have got one from me.With regards cooking temperature of beef burgers, Steve may actually be right this time. Apparently it makes little difference about the quality of the meat. Mincing meat increases the surface area and exponentially increases the chance of bacteria developing because it can get more air. You can have your burgers cooked medium rare at home if you want but a restaurant in the UK will usually give it to you cooked to a temperature of 160 degrees fahreinheit. If I recall correctly The Swan got in trouble with the hygiene inspectors for offering burgers under this temperature even if it was what the customer wanted.

If the meat is good quality - Ie actually made of beef - and has been stored at the appropriate temperature and in the right conditions of course you can have it cooked to your liking. Where is all this nonsense coming from. Also “avoid burgers because of an obesity crisis” have you heard of the concept of moderation? In France, where by the way no one would touch a “well done” anything, people eat salads, fish, healthy, exercise, and enjoy a treat when they want one. Cheese, a patisserie, a burger. Then the next day it’s back to healthy food. Why post if only to be inflammatory? Genuine question.

All beef burgers should be well done. Any restaurant that asks you how you want it done should be avoided like a plague as they don’t know what the are doing and they have no understanding of food science, bacteria etc.

Amazing responses, mostly helpful but some remarkably judgemental.Not mentioning any neames but to suggest that we are making bad life choices by ordering burgers is quite frankly ridiculous. My wife is an extremely fit ex-dancer and both of our sons are rowers at National level, one is now a professional musician. "No stranger to the sweet trolley" would certainly not be the first thing to spring to mind when describing a Blackwell!Yes we could have cooked at home but I couldn't be arsed and frankly just wanted food, now! The take away is very much embedded in our culture and to expect a reasonable service is certainly not a First World problem!But anyway, to those who replied with helpful suggestions I thank you! All sorted now, we visited the restaurant and the manager was very apologetic and the refund has been issued.Incidentally we have found the best food for delivery is either PHO or ANNAPURNA ... yum!

Id put money on it that the opposite is true.In my oppinion honest is better and the burgers are better,Id say they most likely have more delivery trade than the other joints in W4 and for a reason,but everyone has ones own taste and experianceLets just say honest had an issue with IT.Mind you,when you cant ask for how you want your burger cooked you know its not 100% beef which i always decline to having if im told so and choose something else.

If you ordered directly through HB and they decided to outsource the distribution/delivery through a 3rd party, your “contract” is with HB not with UE.You’re entirely correct it is HB to correct the error, and not your responsibility to have to negotiate with a 3rd party they selected to fulfil the order. Advice to cook your own burger at home is ridiculous.That’s not the point.If you ordered a £2000 sofa and they select a particular distribution company to deliver it to you and it gets lost in transit, who are you going to make the complaint with?

Chris, I have never understood the attraction of Honest Burgers as only eaten there and always found it mediocre at best. Personally far prefer Gourmet Burger across the road where I would observe when eating there occasionally does seem to have a regular collection and delivery trade, so assume it works well?

Well its just a media thought in my head but I've not been in Iceland for about 30 years I've just had a quick look.Pizza from £1Beef burgers and turkey burgers 10 for £3Now I get some people may shop in Iceland for the pocket but you are guaranteed it's crap if your shopping for that kind of food. Tins and jars maybe ok and cheaper in big brands but just not sure about many things it sells so cheaplyAbout 15 years ago purchased a box of well-known Captain burgers and I put 2 in a pan with no lard or oil.The fat and water that came out of those standard 5mm thick burgers nearly submerged the burgers you would think it is impossible that it came fro just those 2 burgers. Never bought cheap burgers again.But a burger does not have to be really unhealthy if you get good ones and it depends on what you add.

I can’t comment on Iceland because I have never been into an Iceland store so I have no idea what clientele they attract. Are you saying they are mainly fatties and unhealthy looking people?

Busy day, just couldn't be arsed to cook.Good resolution though, on our way to Chiswick Cinema to see Dune 2 (fabulous film) we popped in to Honest Burger and the manager was only too happy to give us a full refund. Said that there was a problem when ordering online via a computer as opposed to using the app.Shan't be rushing back there again but at least he sorted it out for us!

Yes it seems that most of the mainstream media across the world has been ‘fat shaming”, as you call it, over the last two days with this unprecedented turn of events regarding obesity overtaking hunger for the first time ever. It’s incredible. Such a strain on the NHS too.

I do wonder what goes on in the life of people whose reaction to someone raising an issue is generally 'I'm not interested in your problem but let me show how superior I am to you'.The astonishing thing about Chris's post is that, by ordering through the web site, the restaurant will be making far more money than if it was bought through an internet app. The commissions that Uber Eats and other companies charge really squeeze their margins. The manager should have made Chris an absolute priority but the fact that he assumed you ordered through Uber Eats shows how few people take the extra effort to help out the business.The problem with buying from chains is that you will always deal with an employee rather than the owner so resolving issues like this is more difficult.

Yep, will be popping in tomorrow morning to see the manager. We didn't order through Uber Eats and it was Honest Burger who brought them into the equation so I have no order number with UE.
