30mph on great west road

So TFL or another organisation have reduced the A4 from Lampton Road to the junction with the A30 to 30mph, but in some places they’ve left the 40 mph signs up.Is it just temporary or permanent. ?

There are some really ridiculous and contradictory road signs throughout this country.  Unfortunately they are usually on roads where you can't stop to document them as you are travelling in motorised transport.  You can have road signs right next to each other with different speeds on them.  You get the impression that the job specification just said put a new one up without saying anything about replacing or taking the old one down.  Sometimes there really does seem to be a distinct lack of engagement of brain - and of course questioning anything is often discouraged.

40 mph signs 30 mph limit! I wonder what would happen if someone got caught doing 40mph and appealed. Would be nice to know what the AA views are.
