Knitting Wool donations/left overs for charity knitting please

Hi all I am back again on the hunt for knitting wool (brief update for those who have donated before - both my Mother and Mother-in-Law are very sadly no longer with us hence the absence of my requests for the past couple of years). However I am now knitting some of the Oxfam pattern childrens jumpers ... any quality/thickness/color received that can’t be used for those will be passed to a knitting group who make 'twiddle muffs' for Dementia patients, they supply various hospitals. Absolutely none will be wasted. Please have a root around to see if you’ve anything to donate. I can pick up (generally/relatively locally) or, if more convenient, any donations can be dropped off where I work on King Street very near Goldhawk Road. Thank you to all who’ve been able to assist in the past and to those who may be able to in the future - I look forward to hearing from you either by pm or my mobile 07984 802205 xx For those who are not familiar with'twiddle muffs' they are knitted tubes often fashioned with ribbons, buttons, bells and zips, have been found to have a calming effect on people with dementia by keeping their hands busy and warding off anxiety. They are particularly useful in a hospital setting while people are in waiting rooms ahead of treatment.

I am still collecting as there are plenty of knitters to keep busy.  Please do have a search of your cupboards for wool, ribbons, buttons etc. I work on King Street, very near Goldhawk Road if dropping off is possible or I am quite likely able to pick up from you. Joy  Sorry to hear that you have lost both of the knitters whose efforts you were first supporting with the wool.  Glad to see that you are still carrying on though with this very worthwhile cause. And I still have a ball of wool somewhere but just never seem to be able to get it to you (but it is just the one.)

Hi Audrey…. Thank you, the knitting group who knit the twiddle muffs can use needles and patterns etc when they teach new joiners how to knit…..so yes please! You can contact me on 07984 802205 if that’s easier for you.To those who have recently donated a HUGE thank you from the ladies at the weekend when I dropped off what I had collected. They were somewhat speechless as they had only recently discussed the possibility of having to start fund raising which they have been able to avoid so far…..your donations have further delayed the necessity of that conversation being continued in the immediate future. Again, thank you!Moving forward, they also need buttons (they can and do use 20+ buttons on one twiddle muff….they also need beads, toggles, ribbons, braids, tassels etc., for the insides and outsides of the twiddle muffs…..please have another root around and see what you might have that you would be happy to pass on…. If you are comfortable with that please text or call me on my mobile (as above) please.Lesley, I thank you, I can pass knitting needles, patterns, buttons and pieces of ribbon on to the ‘twiddle muff’ knitters as they also have enthusiastic to learn non-knitters join their group. They seem to have great fun at their meetings. They have just  reached a Twiddle Muff count of 5000 all of which have been taken to hospital wards and clinics for Dementia patients.Many thanks to all who have been in touch with me, please spread the word as this is not a seasonal request. Good timing Joy.  I've been thinking to contact you as I have a half made, abandoned blanket plus left over wool for you.  I'll send a message to your mobile.Sorry to hear of the loss of your mother and mother-in-law.  My sincere condolences.  I lost my mother to Alzheimer's a couple of years ago so dementia is a cause close to my heart.
