Can VHS tapes be put in the recycling bin in Ealing borough?TIA

Nothing from Hounslow (or Ealing) goes to landfill! It goes to be incinerated to generate electricity.

Thank you all for the helpful and interesting replies. I'm pretty sure our tapes had no resale value so they have ended up in landfill.

When I was a kid 78rpm records were the equivalent of VHS today.At least you could make plant pots out of those.

Council kerbside recycling is just a method of sorting from the rest things that can be sent on for reprocessing.  There are efforts to standardise this across boroughs to make it easier.There are lots of things which can be reused and repurposed and found homes elsewhere but sadly for some years video tapes have been difficult if not impossible.  Occasionally rare ones appear eg missing Dr Who recordings or something like that or the few people who still a video recorder will be happy to have them (it is more difficult for some people to change and learn new tech).  It is noticeable that records have had a resurgence in popularity.There are websites eg trashnothing.com and preloved and other specialist websites where you can offer them and also where various items are requested as well as offered.
