Maggie and Rose clubhouse closure

Dear community Are there any other members of Maggie and Rose on the forum? We were told last Monday evening that the clubhouse would have to close temporarily due to staffing issues. Reason that is completely understandable, however there is no communication about temporary solutions whilst closed, plans shared about when it can reopen and so on. It does seem they may close completely but it seems impossible to get any replies. Anyone else in the same situation?

The Evening Standard has picked up on this although there is little to add to the coverage on this site other than the West Kensington club has also closed.

We got the short email too. Something didn’t feel right at the beginning of January when the kids January Birthday’s were not on the board. When I questioned it the staff said they hadn’t received the info from head office. Also, a friend of mine was looking at booking a birthday party for her child, she was told they didn’t have an entertainer. Who knows what’s going on but I can only assume with radio silence that Maggie & Rose is closed for the foreseeable.

Really sorry to hear this - I've been in the same situation and can't provide much solace. A freelancer ranks behind HMRC, permanent staff and lenders when it comes to a liquidation so the chances of you getting anything are low. It is a good idea to do a quick search of Companies House records for any company you are doing work for, particularly if they are a slow payer (aren't they all).Your only hope is that if a like for like business takes over and wants to keep existing freelancers onside to get the business up and running and pays you out of goodwill.

I’m a  children’s facepainter who was sub contracted to work at parties for Maggie and Rose, and  as far as I know (which isn’t much) their bank accounts have been frozen because of accounting anomalies.  The staff apparently haven’t been paid for two months and neither have the suppliers.  I myself am owed £300 but other entertainers are owed thousands.  There is complete radio silence from the management.    There is a club apparently still operating in Hong Kong, but who knows what’s going on.

It looks like you are not alone. There is an article about the situation on the front page and it doesn't look great I'm afraid.
