Dog Poo Bag Litter

During my recent litter picking in Dukes Meadows I picked up 17 dog poo bags from the bushes within 100 yards of a dog poo bin.  I estimate there will have been triple that number that I could not see or could not reach. The council have gone to the trouble and expense of putting in dog poo bins: could those dog walkers who don’t use the bins please start using them: or take their bags home: or leave them where they are accessible for other people to pick them up easily: or, if you really have to throw them in the bushes please not the bramble bushes as it makes access so difficult: and please use bags in bright colours so it makes it easier for people to see and collect. The brighter the colours the quicker they’ll be picked up (and I’m not entirely joking when I say that).

agree with everyone, and while we're about it, let's add registration plates and licensing for babies too, plus a test for adults being allowed to push a pram in a public place?

Owners who behave like this should be fined, a dog gives unconditional love and irresponsible owners give dogs a bad name. It’s not that hard to pick up your own dogs poo and deposit it in a bin. Same a a babies poo 😂😂😂 shame on them most dog owners are responsible. It is a case of the minority spoil it for the majority.

Thanks James. Must admit I hadn’t thought about Bad 1 where some dog walkers may think it’s ok to discard the bags in the bushes. I therefore withdraw the ‘scum’ label from those individuals and put it down to ‘lazy’ people who couldn’t be bothered to walk the 10 to 50 meters holding the bag of their dogs excrement so that they can dump it in the adequately labelled and positioned dog poo bins provided at great expense by the Council.  It probably causes some discomfort to the dog walkers to have to walk those few meters holding a stinking bag of excrement in one hand and holding the dog/s leash/leashes in the other hand. It would limit their ability to be looking at their mobile phone for a few minutes if both hands are full and that would no doubt lead to some mental anxiety or stress or even a total mental breakdown!

Thanks so much for your robust support Steve. You put it much better than me! What is so wrong in my view is that manufacturers of dog poo bags prominently describe their product as biodegradable. Bad 1:This encourages some dog owners to feel OK or even good about discarding into the bushes. But it can take months and years before this takes place. Bad 2:I have read that some manufacturers use the word biodegradable instead of fragmenting ie their bags break down in pieces making it nearly impossible to pick up, but all the pieces remain as plastic.

I find it so sad, if not totally abhorrent, that decent people like James Petri have to clean up after so many scum dog owners / dog walkers. It’s quite disgraceful. Some might argue that it’s a higher class of scum who place the excrement in bags compared to the lowest class of scum who just leave it unbagged on paths  and pavements etc.  Scum nonetheless!

They all have to have to be chipped and registered now.  DNA should also be added.
