Food Market

“ The grounds for opposing the market included the claim that it provided unfair competition for bricks and mortar businesses and the loss of parking on market days.”Why is there opposition to this market but the others go ahead?

This despotic council will always ignore arguments which don’t fit in with their agenda.  They don’t subscribe to democracy!

If people didn't visit these markets they wouldn't be held. They have been going sometime now and so they clearly have sufficient popularity to be sustainable.I don't know what grounds the council licensing committee can use to refuse a licence but if unfair competition is one, they have clearly been unconvinced by the arguments made by local businesses opposed including for the Street Food Market.

While I get the antique market may be of interest, there are flower shops and stalls and cheese is also readily available every day of the week.

Because the level of competition provided by the Flower, Cheese and Antiques market is deemed to be less significant than the Street Food market.
