Did anyone find my prescription glasses somewhere in Grove Park? I lost them while delivering Christmas cards on the evening of 19th December. They have tortoiseshell coloured frames.

What's wrong with mentioning Christmas cards, we are all religions here and we all celebrate Christmas.
Giggle, don't ever change PhilippaNo disrespect to OP
Of course not she may have found them hanging down the back of her neck or at home once she got home again. However the OP has declared that she thinks she has lost them and in case she lost them and they were found. They may also have been already returned. People of many different faiths and none celebrate Christmas whoever and whatever they believe in and send each other good wishes. Haven't you noticed?

There's no actual evidence that the glasses were lost and mentioning Christmas cards in a multi cultural society well that is just an inflammatory statement. Apologies to the OP no disrespect.
Completely agree with you James. This is particularly important with children as any lost article is likely to be kicked around when the owner is unknown but so often is treated completely differently if there is a name attached to the item - and an effort is made to connect owner and item. Those printed labels (or part of them), name-tapes both iron-on and sew-on as well as indelible pen and white correcting pen all work well. Some labelling is easier to take off when you know you will be handing articles on. I found the very large labelling good for towels and machine sewing them on worked. It also meant that those children who took home other peoples' kit could be challenged. I remember a local school actually insisted that sports kit had initials embroidered on. The earlier that children learn responsibility for their own and others' kit the better - and it creates good community spirit.Yes, a a good idea for keys and some items to have a different name so that they can be returned without divulging too much information or making property theft or breaking and entering etc easier. Make sure you tell the friend whose number you may be adding to your items what you have done!
The key to getting your lost property returned is to make it easy for the finder to contact you.It used to be quite normal to put your contact details on all your valuables, even clothing. For glasses you can buy an inexpensive hand engraving tool with fine needle and put your mobile phone number on them.Or ask your optician to do this for you. I find sets of keys every other month but never with a phone number so I put them in the bin after a bit. Put a friend's number on outside of your mobile. That way there is zero delay before finder makes contact. Learn how Find My Phone and Find My iPhone work. I've had keys and phone returned within minutes of loss. Finders are nearly always Good Samaritans.

Sometimes people hand these in to the nearest opticians... but it sounds as though you may not have been near one. If you were a bit more specific about where you had been someone's memory may be jogged as to where they saw some eg perched on a wall perhaps?
