Ultrasound-Guided Hydrodilatation worked perfectly for me.A had an extremely painful frozen shoulder 15 years ago, age 50, and had tried a few things; massages, daily physio exercises for 6 months which I followed without fail , rest. No cortisone injections, no osteopaths and minimum use of painkillers. I wanted to keep things as 'natural' as possible. I have always been very active and fit.Things didn't improve and I had to work. I went to local GP, managed to see a doctor through NHS and had the procedure at the Parkside Hospital. The bursa was inflamed so they gave me a cortisone injection first and then I had the hydrodilatation. The procedure was a tiny uncomfortable but quick and I tried not to look at the needles. But it was nothing compared to the pain from my frozen shoulder. I left the hospital and travelled back to Chiswick by bus/tube. I was on my own. And I could move my arm immediately. No more problems since. This my experience.I hope your friend finds the best solution for her/him and gets better.
