Hounslow Council not close to bankruptcy

They have said that they are not close to bankruptcy and may just maintain essential services and as far as I know they still want to move Brentford fountain at a cost of £100,000!

Hounslow may not have made leveraged investments but Ealing did make a big bet on Broadway Living, a property company which was supposed to bring in a huge surplus as well as lots of new housing. Many of the projects have run into difficulties so we may be hearing more about this later in the year.

I notice it hasn't bought any shopping centres or dodgy solar farms schemes by borrowing. How Thurrock and other councils were allowed to borrow public money on a vast scale for commercial investments without any questions from auditors is weird. Bring back the Audit Commission abolished by Cameron.

Isn't the developer paying to move the Brentford Fountain? Hounslow Council finds itself in a relatively strong financial position because it has a more diversified revenue base. Fines from parking and breaches of access restrictions are meant to be hypothecated but in practice a good public sector accountant can use the cash flowing through the organisation to ease financial pressures in other departments.

I think cyclists would disagree. They think Chiswick has beenvastly improved thanks to huge expenditure for their benefit. I suggest Councillors expenses be scrutinised. Last time someone said they didn’t claimmich the facts proved otherwise regarding the specific lady we were discussing

They have done nothing to improve Chiswick, I hope they go bankrupt, the irresponsible money wasted on signs and painted roads.50k for that rainbow crossing honestly!!!
