RIP  Benjamin Zephaniah

He was a wonderful man, I remember how much I regretted not being able to stick around to hear him talk on the Protest March against the War in Iraq as it was bitingly cold and I'd come out without a coat on. But I'll remember him best for his love and compassion for animals and for speaking out for them.

I think he maybe did more than just the one genre Keith ? I remember him doing the closing scene to Newsnight as they finished the series for Xmas with one of his poems many years ago and it was just sooo fitting. A happy memory I will keep of him.

I didn't find his poetry funny,despite it having such good humour about it.He came across as a genuinely nice guy with a good way with words and a positive response to life.

Sad news. I liked his funny poetry. Look up "Be nice to yu turkeys dis Christmas" for giggles. I didnt agree with all of his activism but I admire him for being gutsy to do the speaking up and when asked about something he didnt know about - he would humbly say "Im not qualified to answer that" - unlike just about any politician out there ! I ll miss you Mr Zephaniah.
