Chiswick Xmas Lights a bit meh

Have the lights on the high street always been so naff and underwhelming? A few cheap stars  on a couple of the lamp posts, I understand cost of living but come on, where’s Xmas?!

To be fair I think they are quite cheerful.Certainly at the eastern end.There was a time not so long ago when lights finished at Chiswick Lane, put right after complaints were made.Are there lights on the section of CHR beyond the roundabout on the way to Brentford?

Jump up and pay for more- they are always welcome!!!Like the Chiswick Businesses did 10 years ago to put these "underwhelming" ones in, and Hounslow has funded the putting up and taking down since.

I wouldn't blame the Tories but more likely the local shoplifters.Business is like a glass of Guinness.Profit is the froth at the top of the glass. If people pinch the froth ...Shops would often raise money together to provide for decorations.

I'm old enough as well to remember when the High Road had no lights at all - 13 years of Tory cuts have also done their damage.  Maybe some local billionaires could put a few, to them, paltry quid in support after all this is where those billions came from!

The Xmas decorations on Bond Street are amazing too.The Fortnam & Mason store is jam-packed.The Burlington Parade is worth a visit... so to Berkeley Square where Annabells has a spectacular showing.Agree ..the 94 bus route is special.

Hi Lee - my Chiswick pal gave me this tip ; take the 94 bus and get on at the start of the route in Chiswick, sit upstairs on the front seat, take snacks and drinks with you, it will take you down the Oxford street lights, obviously go after dark. Maybe get off at Regent Street and wander into Hamleys to see all the free and fun toy demonstrations. You could also wander round Covent Garden and watch the street actors/ entertainers for free. Enjoy.

Better than 10 + years ago.20 years ago chiswick was the only a handfull of london main  high roads that had no lights whatsoever
