The problem is those who use Economy 7, and depending on your current electricity meter, are being given no choice about having a Smart meter installed because of the changes to electricity meters using Radio Teleswitch (RTS) technology (Economy 7 meter). The BBC radio service that supports RTS meters is being phased out.

Instead of harrassing everyone you would think that they would somehow check properties out first - or give a list of reasons that properties might have a problem. What no householder wants is all the hassle of having to try and get anything installed and/or fixed which then doesn't work when it should! I suppose the sub-contractors are happy to go on taking customers' time... I know that I got fed up with taking time off work and waiting for people to turn up who just didn't bother.

Is that why so many people who have ones that don't work are just kept waiting - targets?

The BBC went big on this yesterday, all day and on all media. Lots of horror stories though also reminders that millions of households are using them without problems. I've always refused to have one and this coverage certainly didn't change my mind!
